Nightline ‘Excellence’ Claims another Supply Chain Award
Ireland's biggest independent logistics firm has won another award for its high delivery standards.
Nightline claimed the 'Excellence in Managed Services' title at a recent ceremony organised by Zetes, Europe’s leading system integrator of mobility and data capture solutions.
The award is the latest acknowledgement of Nightline's innovation and investment in putting in place reliable and flexible systems in support of its growing operations.
John Tuohy, CEO of the Nightline Group, declared that greater recognition, more customers and a larger volume of items moved successfully was justification for his company's approach.
"Over the decade since we set about enhancing our technological infrastructure, the delivery industry has been transformed dramatically.
"We understood that it wasn't enough to merely react to change. We had to be able help shape the way that the delivery needs of business clients and consumers were met.
"Nightline has continued to spend time and money making sure that every element of what we do is as efficient as possible in order to give the best possible service that we can."
In the last three years, Nightline has invested more than €5 million in systems and equipment, including the launch of its award-winning parcel locker network, Parcel Motel and installing more comprehensive wireless support across its nationwide depot network.
A major project with Zetes in 2012 saw drivers and warehousing staff provided with state-of-the-art mobile terminals and mobile printers to improve interaction with the Smartship® IT system, developed in-house and expanded over the last 10 years.
An initiative developed with CollectPlus, allowing consumers across Ireland to use their local Parcel Motel to return unwanted goods bought online to UK retailers, also won a prestigious national logistics award in March.
Robert van Vliet, Zetes' Managing Director for Ireland, said: "Nightline is a business which has consistently innovated to grow its service offering in order to both retain and attract new clients.
"The technology used by their delivery agents is a key component. We awarded Nightline this title in recognition of their commitment to developing and evolving a managed service ensuring that devices are available all the time and allowing new features and devices to be incorporated without creating any headaches".
Zetes Ireland employs 24 people and is expanding the local team with offices in Dublin and Limerick. The Zetes Group has its headquarters in Belgium and employs more than 1100 people across 15 countries within Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
